Work/Project Experience

Work Experience and Projects

During my time at Penn State Behrend I have had many labs, projects, had a internship all which I have learned many different things from. Also at Penn State Behrend I am the Vice President of NSBE (National Society of Black Engineers) and represent the School of Engineering as a Engineering Ambassador. The things that I have learned inside and outside of the classroom have shaped me into a better person and built my confidence to tackle most assignments, projects, problems, and etc. Outside of the Penn State Behrend I have had the opportunity to have an internship with PJ Dick during the Summer of 2023 and earned an internship with Arconic for Summer of 2024. Aside from working I have also started a Vending Machine Business with a close friend where we currently manage 3 locations and 4 machines.

Projects

PLC Lab

In this lab I worked on PLCs using the Allen Bradley software. I was tasked with wiring and programming PLCs to achieve various tasks like programming traffic lights, HMI, sensors, conveyor belts, solenoids, a elevator, and much more. This lab was one of my favorite classes as I learned a lot about PLCs which is a very useful skill in the industry of Engineering. Below I have some pictures of the labs I worked on and reports that I wrote.

System Integration Project

During this project I programmed a microcontroller to control a car. This car had different features like a camera, ultrasonic sensor, line tracking, and a remote. I was tasked with programming the car using C on the software Arduino to have it perform multiple tasks. At the end of this project the car could toggle between different functions with the click of a button to control itself and drive using the ultrasonic sensor, or follow a line, or be controlled by the remote. This was a fun and great learning experience to work with a microcontroller and use the programming language C as well. Below are some examples of how the car moved.

ITC Project

During my involvement in the Erie Strayer ITC project, I played a key role in simplifying the contract generation process by leveraging Microsoft Excel to simplify operations. I collaborated closely with a fellow student and an advisor, we effectively communicated with the client on a weekly basis to ensure project alignment and conducted regular tests to uphold solution quality. Additionally, as a team we excelled in task organization and delegation within our team, maximizing productivity and ensuring timely achievement of project milestones. This experience not only enhanced my proficiency in project management and communication but also emphasized my ability to deliver efficient and effective solutions in a collaborative environment.
