About Me

Behind the Portfolio

Who is Tim?

I am currently a student at Penn Sate Behrend going into my last year for my Bachelor’s of Science studying Electrical and Computer Engineering Technology. I am from the north side of Pittsburgh and attended Pittsburgh Science and Technology Academy for High School. My hobbies are working out, playing basketball, playing Xbox, attending sporting events, and traveling when I can.

High School

During my time at Pittsburgh Science and Technology Academy, I cherished countless experiences, underwent personal growth, and forged lasting bonds. Opting for the Forms and Functions concentration exposed me to various engineering disciplines, igniting my passion for the field. This experience solidified my determination to pursue an engineering degree upon graduation. Beyond academics, I proudly served as an Ambassador for the Pittsburgh Promise scholarship, guiding fellow students through the application process, participating in college tours, and representing the program at events. Concurrently, I dedicated myself to varsity basketball, honing my skills and commitment over four years of high school.

College

I chose Penn State Behrend primarily because of its School of Engineering, which offers a diverse array of options across various engineering disciplines. Initially drawn to Chemical Engineering due to my enjoyment of high school Chemistry, I soon realized it wasn’t the right fit after delving into college-level chemistry courses. This realization led me to pivot towards studying Electrical and Computer Engineering Technology, where I thrived on the challenges presented by the coursework. Outside the classroom, I proudly serve as an Engineering Ambassador for the School of Engineering at Penn State Behrend. In this role, I represent the school, lead tours, participate in events, and engage with prospective students and their families to address any inquiries they may have. Additionally, I hold the position of Vice President of NSBE (National Society of Black Engineers), where I collaborate with fellow E-Board members to organize informative sessions and networking opportunities with local companies. I am involved in fundraising initiatives, securing funding for club activities through proposal writing, event planning, and fundraising efforts. Representing NSBE at various events, we aim to foster a supportive community for academic and personal growth. Each year, NSBE hosts a conference featuring career fairs, networking events, and certificate opportunities with companies. These conferences provide invaluable opportunities to represent our NSBE chapter, connect with other chapters nationwide, secure internships or full-time positions, and network with professionals and companies. At the 50th annual NSBE Conference in Atlanta in March 2024, myself and fellow members of the Penn State Behrend E-Board facilitated our chapter’s participation. At the conference, I forged meaningful connections, secured an internship opportunity, and expanded my knowledge base. Participating in this conference is a priority for our NSBE chapter, as it offers exceptional exposure and opportunities for personal and professional development.

What I Want To Do After Graduation

Areas of Expertise

Events That Have Shaped Me

After College I want to pursue a career in Control System Engineering. Control System Engineering is the process of designing, analyzing, and optimizing control systems. Throughout my college years and in my work experience I have learned a lot and feel that I would be proficient in this field. I have more on why I would be a perfect candidate for this field on the Work/Project Experience tab.
